TRIG wins three prestigious prizes this year

Dr Issa, Professor Wood and Dr Hester with their awards

In March 2011, Dr Fadi Issa was awarded the Medawar Medal at the British Transplantation Society congress, held in Bournemouth.  The Medawar Medal is awarded by competition following presentation in a specific session at the Society Congress.  Dr Issa’s presentation was entitled:

"Induction of long-term human skin allograft survival by human regulatory T cell monotherapy"  Fadi Issa, Joanna Hester, Ryoichi Goto, Tim Goodacre, Kathryn Wood. 

At the same congress, Dr Joanna Hester was awarded The Roy Calne Award which is made to the competitive winner of a submission of a peer review publication in a recognised academic journal.  Dr Hester won the medal for the paper entitled:

"In vivo prevention of transplant arteriosclerosis by ex vivo-expanded human regulatory T cells"  Nat Med. 2010 Jul;16(7):809-13  Nadig SN*, Wieckiewicz J*, Wu DC, Warnecke G, Zhang W, Luo S, Schiopu A, Taggart DP, Wood KJ

Also in March 2011,  Professor Kathryn Wood was awarded the Societat Catalana de Transplantament (SCT)  GOLD MEDAL for her work in Transplantation. 

Professor Wood’s keynote speech was entitled: "Regulatory T-Cells. From bench to clinic".  The Awardee introduction was made by Josep Lloveras, Board member and past-president of the Catalan Transplantation Foundation.
