Urological Research

Cancer Research Group

This group was started in 1993 and some outstanding work has been produced on the mechanisms of development of bladder cancer by research workers in that field, especially in the area of angiogenisis. Research into the genetics and treatment of prostate cancer is developing, and the group is now extending the work to look at kidney and testis cancer.

Oxford Continence Group

Present research activity is concentrating on the function of the smooth muscle in the bladder and urethra with a view to helping people who suffer from incontinence and other associated bladder problems, including the effects of spinal injuries.

Oxford Stone Group

This group provides a clinical service for patients with kidney stones whilst undertaking research to investigate the causes, prevention and treatment of kidney stones.

High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound (HIFU)
