Post Graduate Education

The Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences offers masters and doctoral research degrees. We attract graduate students from all over the world and about 40 students are now enrolled. Postgraduate research is vital to the culture and success of the Department and we take pride in our students' accomplishments and careers.

We believe that it is important that medical graduates and training scientists interact in the learning process. This interdisciplinary interchange facilitates knowledge transfer between laboratory and the clinical setting. It also stimulates Department's research agenda. Our goal is to sustain postgraduate teaching and research at the highest standards

The Department seeks to recruit about 20 masters students and about 5 doctoral students each year. We look to attract the most ambitious students who exhibit a significant commitment to developing their expertise in the sciences, or medical graduates who are interested in receiving a vigorous research training to complement their medical training whether they wish to go on to academic careers or to positions of leadership in their respective specialist fields.
