‘From wartime to peacetime: lessons from the Vaccine Taskforce’

We are pleased to announce that the Dame Catherine Elizabeth Bingham, DBE (known as Kate Bingham) will be delivering this year’s Romanes Lecture.

In May 2020, Kate was appointed Chair of the UK Vaccine Taskforce reporting to the Prime Minister to lead UK efforts to find and manufacture a COVID-19 vaccine. On 8 December 2020, the UK started COVID-19 vaccinations – the first Western country to do so. In her lecture, Kate will discuss how the UK’s response to the pandemic has evolved from wartime to peacetime.

The lecture will be taking place at the Sheldonian Theatre and will be livestreamed via YouTube and Facebook.

To attend either the in-person event at the Sheldonian, or watch the livestream, please register your interest here, and access details will be sent out to you.
