Chris Silagy (1960-2001) was the founding Director of the Australasian Cochrane Centre, a former Chair of the Cochrane Steering Group and instrumental in Cochrane's development and success. Before his death in 2001, he initiated a fund to recognise contributions to The Cochrane Collaboration in ways that are often insufficiently recognised.
The Chris Silagy Prize is awarded at every Cochrane Colloquium to an individual (or organisation) who has made an extraordinary contribution to the work of the Collaboration.
She was described in her nomination statement as ‘someone who exemplifies quiet reliability, is highly respected and sought out by her peers, and she demonstrates tremendous dedication to carrying out key editorial roles at a consistently high standard over the course of many years.’
The Chris Silagy Prize was presented to Mrs Bellorini by Denise Thomson, the recipient of the 2014 prize, during the Annual General Meeting held at the Vienna Colloquium, 3-7 October 2015, and consists of AU$1,000, a certificate and expenses associated with attending the Colloquium.
