Jasmin Patel

Transplant Technician

I am part of a team of transplant technicians working with Quality in Organ Donation (QUOD), which aims to improve the number and quality of organs from donors for transplant.

My role is two-fold:

  1. Accepting organs (lungs, heart, pancreas) unfit for transplant, on behalf of research groups based in Oxford and Newcastle, and accommodating transportation to the relevant centre.
  2. Collection and processing of samples taken in the process of (kidney) transplantation for the QUOD biobank.

I am a current undergraduate student in biomedical sciences at the University of Oxford.
