NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow

Matthew studied medicine at Newcastle University where he also completed a Master of Research in Transplantation. Following this he completed an Academic Foundation Programme in Cambridge and developed an interest in urological cancer. 

After taking a year out of training to act as an anatomy demonstrator at Cambridge, Matthew was appointed as an NIHR Academic Fellow in Urology at Oxford commencing August 2020. His research interests include the diagnosis, staging, and genomic and transcriptomic profiles of urological cancers.

Matthew is also interested in education and in 2016 founded We Are Donors, a charity that aims to educate young people about blood and organ donation; and founded the first student and trainee medical education research collaborative – MedEd Collaborative.
