'Leadership and Culture in the NHS'

In November 2018 John Drew, Director of Improvement and Culture at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust, launched a series of Leadership Talks – open to all OUH staff – with a range of internal and external speakers.

All Leadership Talks are filmed by Oxford Medical Illustration (OMI), John Radcliffe Hospital's in-house photography, graphic design and video team, and posted on YouTube for staff who are unable to attend.

The three talks so far have been held at OUH and largely promoted to OUH staff only but the next talk by staff engagement expert Michael West from 8.30am-9.30am on Wednesday 31 July will be held in the lecture theatre in Sir Kenneth Wheare Hall on Oxford Brookes University’s Gipsy Lane site and so OUH would like to extend the invitation to our organisation and any staff who may be interested in attending.

Professor West will be talking about Leadership and Culture in the NHS – he is a Senior Fellow at the King’s Fund and Professor of Organisational Psychology at Lancaster University Management School. The focus of his research over 30 years has been culture and leadership in organisations, team and organisational innovation and effectiveness, particularly in relation to the organisation of health services. Although the talk will focus primarily on leadership and culture in the NHS, it will undoubtedly be of interest to those of you working in other sectors.

The venue is best accessed via Gipsy Lane, off Headington Road, OX3 0BP. Entry to the venue is from the CLC- Clerici building entrance, as this is directly next to the hall.
