The Medical Sciences Teaching Excellence Awards scheme recognises and rewards excellence in teaching, supervision, the organisation and development of teaching, and support for teaching and learning, within a research-intensive environment.
Professor Handa, who is the Director of Surgical Education at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, is being given the accolade for his enormous contribution to the Oxford Medical School through his commitment to teaching and educational leadership in surgical education, including work on the review and development of the curriculum and assessment, as well as for his outstanding contribution to college-based clinical teaching.
A senior faculty member said: “Ashok has made a major contribution to undergraduate surgical education over 18 years, helped Oxford to get to and remain in pole position in the UK League table for Medical Schools and has a national and international reputation for his many contributions to Medical Education.”
The Awards Ceremony will take place on 23 October 2019 at Merton College.
