Research council awards

Significant levels of funding are available from UK research councils – government-funded agencies that provide financial support to researchers from the UK and in some cases overseas, across a range of disciplines. Competition for research council awards is intense, and the high number of awards received by our graduate students is a reflection of the quality of research at Oxford. Approximately 15 per cent of all our new graduate students are funded by UK research councils.

Research-specific scholarships

Some of our graduate students benefit from scholarships for specific research projects. In some instances these are supported by charities; for example, the Wellcome Trust supports a number of research students via the Doctoral Training Centre courses offered in the Medical Sciences.

Further information about grants and scholarships can be found on the Medical Sciences Graduate School website.
