Biography

Chris LavyProfessor Chris Lavy is Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon and Professor of Orthopaedic and Tropical Surgery within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford. He is a council member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and chair of the international committee. He worked in Malawi for ten years, where he helped to set up orthopaedic surgical training, children’s hospitals, and the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa. He leads the COSECSA Oxford Orthopaedic Link and Africa Clubfoot Training projects funded by the UK Department for International Development. He was awarded an OBE in 2007 for services to orthopaedics.

 

The lecture will be chaired by Professor Freddie Hamdy, Head of Department at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. 

All members of the University and NHS clinical staff are welcome.
