A distinct role for innate immunity in the initiation phase of tissue damage following BD and the inflammatory response is increasingly appreciated. In this chapter, the role of innate immunity in BD-induced inflammation will be addressed, focused on two major systems of innate immunity-toll-like receptors (TLRs) and complement.
