γδ T lymphocytes are an atypical immune cell with both innate and adaptive properties. They have heterogeneous physiological roles including epithelial surveillance, professional antigen presentation, and immunomodulation. However, their role in transplantation – whether they promote graft tolerance or rejection – remains elusive. We are investigating the functional response of γδ T cells to foreign tissue.
