\n \n \n \nThe Consortium for Organ Preservation in Europe (COPE) \u2013 an EU funded surgical research project on organ preservation \u2013 is running three clinical trials in five European countries. As of December 2014, all COPE trials are now live. \r\n

\n \n \n \nOther inductees included the late Sir Macfarlane Burnett (Nobel Laureate), Sir Gustav Nossal, Professor Emeritus Ian Mackay, Professor Emeritus Priscilla Kincaid-Smith and the late Professors Maurice Ewing and Richard Lovell. Unfortunately Peter Morris was not able to get there but it was a grand occasion from all accounts, with a sell-out audience at the celebratory dinner.

\n \n \n \nPrasanna Sooriakumaran, Senior Fellow in Robotic Surgery & Urology with the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit spoke about his research on local radio on Thursday evening and Friday morning (27th and 28th February) in an attempt to raise public awareness of prostate cancer and it's treatment.\r\n\r\nHis paper on \"Surgery v Radiotherapy in Prostate Cancer\" is published in the BMJ.

\n \n \n \nThe Lecture was founded in 1646 by Mr. Edward Arris, and under the will of Mr. John Gale in 1655, to provide lectures in anatomy for the members of the Company of Barbers & Surgeons. It was transferred to the Company of Surgeons in 1745. It continues to be a highly regarded and prestigious award within the field of surgery, awarded annually in stiff competition

\n \n \n \nProfessor Kathryn Wood from the University of Oxford will be swapping a lab coat for legislation, when she visits Ms Nicola Blackwood, MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, at the House of Commons for a \u201cWeek in Westminster\u201d commencing Monday 2 December as part of a unique \u2018pairing\u2019 scheme run by the Royal Society \u2013 the UK\u2019s national academy of science.

\n \n \n \nWe are delighted to highlight the excellence of Vikram Sharma who has been awarded three prestigious awards over the past four months .Vikram, whose speciality is in craniofacial surgery, has presented his findings in front of large audiences and world renowned academics; which were received with great interest resulting in the rewarding of multiple prizes and a RCS fellowship.
