- Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) Research Group
Clinical Trials Development Lead
I joined the SITU in June 2016 as the Clinical Trials Development Lead. The purpose of my role is to establish and develop a portfolio of collaborative researchers, leading to the successful submission and set up of surgical intervention trials. I’m responsible for identifying and discerning viable research proposals, and leading the development of these ideas into successful grant applications, engaging with new investigators and the SITU core team. I am the main point of contact in SITU for investigators who wish to develop new trials.
I have a BSc (hons) in Food and Human Nutrition from the University of Newcastle, and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Manchester. I have over ten years’ experience of working in clinical research in nutrition, cancer screening, blood donation and orthopaedic surgery. I have been involved in a number of large randomised controlled trials from set up to submission of the final report.
Outside of work I enjoy cycling, reading, live music and travel, and have previously spent time living in Spain, Colombia and Panama where I worked as an English teacher and volunteer in agricultural projects.
