I am part of a team of transplant technicians working with Quality in Organ Donation (QUOD), which aims to improve the number and quality of organs from donors for transplant.
My role is two-fold:
- Accepting organs (lungs, heart, pancreas) unfit for transplant, on behalf of research groups based in Oxford and Newcastle, and accommodating transportation to the relevant centre.
- Collection and processing of samples taken in the process of (kidney) transplantation for the QUOD biobank.
I am a current undergraduate student in biomedical sciences at the University of Oxford.
