nimal Models of Transplantation

Short S., Wood K., Hester J., Issa F.

Transplantation has revolutionised the treatment of organ failure but remains limited by the challenge of controlling alloimmune responses to the transplanted organ. Central to addressing this challenge is understanding the nature of rejection responses and developing safer, and more effective, methods for its control. In vivo models are critical to achieving this goal as they facilitate investigation of novel therapies in the context of a complete immune system. This article details the various transplantation animal models, their merits, and limitations.
