Reena Ravikumar
Surgical Research Fellow and DPhil student
I am a NIHR funded Surgical Research Fellow working on a DPhil on normothermic preservation of the human pancreas. I graduated in medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2005 where I continued my basic surgical training before obtaining a National Training Number in General Surgery and Transplantation in London in 2010.
My clinical and academic interests are in the field of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation. The focus of my research is in developing normothermic preservation for pancreas transplantation as a novel method of organ preservation to improve organ function and permit viability testing prior to transplantation.
I am also an investigator on a Phase 1 trial of normothermic liver preservation in clinical liver transplantation, undertaken in collaboration with Kings College Hospital, London.
