Sandrine Rendel

QUOD National Operational Coordinator

I am the National Operational Coordinator for the QUOD (Quality in Organ Donation) biobank: a collection of biological samples and relevant clinical data collected across the UK by key professionals involved in the field of Organ Donation (Specialist Nurses in Organ Donation and Transplant retrieval teams).

QUOD aims to provide good quality samples to researchers seeking to improve quality in the field of organ donation. The research undertaken will help understanding pathways of organ injury and repair and hopefully improve the quality of organs transplanted therefore reducing the number of transplant rejection and increasing the proportion of transplant success.

My role is to establish the infrastructure required for sample procurement and Quality Management, to coordinate the process of sample and data collection by liaising with Regional Operational Coordinators and retrieval teams based across the UK whilst adhering to the regulatory and ethical requirements set out by the Human Tissue Act (2004) and the National Research Ethics Service.
