Simultaneous pancreas kidney transplant.  Features contralateral placement of grafted organs, intestinal exocrine drainage (via the duodenal-jejunal anastomosis) and endocrine drainage into the systemic circulation (via the donor hepatic portal vein). Vascular supply of the pancreatic graft is via a Y-graft connecting the donor superior mesenteric artery and splenic artery to the recipient right common iliac artery. R: recipient; D: donor. Analysis identifies 50 new genomic regions associated with kidney cancer risk

In a new analysis of genetic susceptibility to kidney cancer, an international team of researchers, including Professor Mark Sullivan from Oxford University's Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, has identified 50 new areas across the genome that are associated with the risk of developing kidney cancer.
