The Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (NDS) has awarded its first annual grant to an early career researcher from the Philip Allison Foundation. The award went to Dr Hisashi Hashimoto, a postdoctoral researcher at NDS with a research focus on regulatory T cells (Tregs).

Obituary: Professor Sir Peter J. Morris FRS (17 April 1934 – 29 October 2022)

It is with great sadness that we report Peter Morris’s death. Peter died peacefully of metastatic colon cancer on Saturday 29 October at the age of 88, at home in Witney, surrounded by his wife Jocelyn and members of his large family. Peter has been one of the greatest Oxford medicine figures and was the third Nuffield Professor of Surgery between 1974 and 2001.

Dr Anna Furmanski has recently been appointed as Course Director for the MSc in Integrated Immunology programme ahead of Professor Jon Austyn’s retirement after 19 years in the role. Dr Furmanski is an experienced educator, course leader, academic supervisor, and research immunologist.
