Professor David Le Couteur, The University of Sydney

Abstract: Ageing is the main risk factor for disease and poor outcomes from therapeutic interventions. Studies in animal models have shown that ageing can be manipulated by a variety of genetic, nutritional and pharmaceutical interventions. Drug trials aimed at delaying ageing studies are commencing in humans. Targeting ageing biology provides a novel approach to improving health of older people and increasing productive health span.
