‘Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery’
Mr Rana Sayeed specialised in cardiothoracic surgery at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. He was appointed as a Consultant in Oxford in 2007 and performs all aspects of adult cardiac surgery with specialist expertise in mitral valve surgery, particularly mitral valve repair.
Rana is Clinical Lead for Cardiac Surgery and Head of Programme for Complex Mitral Valve Surgery.
He is also the regional Training Programme Director, a Member of the Specialty Advisory Committee, and Chair of the Intercollegiate Specialty (exam) Board for Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Mr Vivek Srivastava completed his UK training at Blackpool and Middlesbrough and then topped it off with a specialist fellowship in Minimally invasive and Robotic Cardiac Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, USA. He has been a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon with mitral subspecialty interest at Oxford University Hospitals since February 2018.
Apart from interest in mitral and tricuspid valve repair surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, Vivek is also keen on education, training and management and is currently undertaking an MBA.
He is Chair of the Departmental Surgical Training Committee, member of the Education subcommittee of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland and is an appointed member of the Surgical Specialty Board for Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
