To celebrate University Mental Health Day and World Book Day on Thursday 4 March 2021, we are running a series of virtual events and activities to promote mental wellbeing for all members of the department.

Morning Workout

Thursday 4 March, 8:30-8:50 (Zoom)

Join Claire Thomson for a 20 minute low-impact workout (no jumping), beginner-friendly morning workout to help get your day off to a great start – family members welcome to join in!  You may need a mat - no other equipment necessary.

Stretch and Relax

Thursday 4 March, 4:00-4:20 (Zoom)

Not a morning person? We’ve got you covered!  Join Claire Thomson for a 20 minute afternoon session of stretching to help you relax and relieve tension in your back and shoulders.

Play Readings

Thursday 4 March, 12:30-1:15 (Zoom)

Enjoy an alternative drama fix to Netflix! We will read three short comedy plays together. Read different parts or just listen in. The plays will be sent beforehand to all participants. Hosted by Louise King and Elena Villarreal.

NDS Book Break

NDS is having a book celebration for World Book Day! All NDS members are welcome to submit their favourite book/poetry collection/short story(ies)/collection of essays. Suggestions will then be compiled into a list and sent to participants on World Book Day. Participants can then choose one option from the list and start reading it! There will be a virtual book break on Thursday 18 March at 10:30, where everyone can get together and discuss the books they recommended, the books they’ve started reading, or anything else book-related (you don’t need to be able to attend the book break to submit a book and receive the list of suggested books). You don’t need to have read your book by this time, nor do you need to have submitted/claimed a book to join in the discussion. Anyone who loves to read is welcome to drop by! You can submit a book suggestion until Wednesday 3 March. Hosted by Emily Hotine.
