Ken had been Director of the Tissue Typing Laboratories as a Principal Scientist for some 10 years

Ken succeeded Alan Ting when Alan moved to California.  Ken moved to Imperial College in 2000., where he was very popular with his staff and students and was a true lateral thinker. He was responsible for one of the most cited papers to come out of the NDS (979 citations at the last count) which described a new technology of tissue typing at the molecular level.

Ken had been ill for several years and we were all very sad to hear of his death. His funeral was held in Banbury last week and there was standing room only in the Chapel. He leaves a wife Margaret, a daughter, Ali and a son, Michael.
