This chapter reviews the detrimental changes that occur during organ preservation. It details the use of cooling and preservation solutions for kidney graft preservation. It also gives an overview of the recent evidence comparing static cold storage and machine perfusion preservation of the kidney. Finally, future directions of hypothermic kidney preservation are discussed.
