I am a higher surgical trainee in transplant surgery from the South West deanery, and I have taken time out of training to study for a DPhil in Professor Ploeg’s laboratory. My main interest is in normothermic machine perfusion of kidneys, with a focus on the role of complement in this setting. Alongside this, investigating other aspects of machine perfusion, such as perfusate composition, in the hope for producing more physiological prolonged ex-situ perfusions to give a platform for immunomodulation prior to transplantation.
