NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and Speciality Trainee in General Surgery

Nikhil studied medicine at the University of Liverpool. During his undergraduate degree, he also undertook an intercalated BSc in Surgery and Anaesthesia at Imperial College London. Following this, Nikhil joined the Academic Foundation Programme in Medical Education at the University of Sheffield where he organised and delivered local and regional teaching for medical students. 

In 2020, Nikhil ranked top 5 in the country in the national core surgical training application and was appointed as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in General Surgery at Oxford. Under the supervision of Professor Simon Buczacki, he is currently studying the effect of paneth and secretary cell differentiation on host-tumour immune response in colon cancers. The work is currently funded by the Cancer Research UK Development Fund and Occtopus Oxford Colon Cancer Trust.
