Bariatric surgery: new challenges
Biography
Mr Bruno Sgromo has been a Consultant Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon in Oxford since 2009, and worked as an honorary Bariatric Consultant in Chichester.
He has a special interest in obesity and weight loss surgery and has performed over 200 surgeries with excellent results, these operations include: laparoscopic gastric by-pass, gastric balloon treatment laparoscopic gastric band and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
Mr Sgromo leads the Oxford Bariatric Service and has been heavily involved in the development of the Unit organising several training sessions on laparoscopic gastric by-pass surgery.
As well as an interest in obesity surgery Mr Sgromo has gained a large experience in minimally invasive surgery (key hole surgery) a few of his operations have been published on Websurg.com, one of the most comprehensive surgical websites.
He is part of the educational and research committee for the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) and he regularly attends the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO) and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) conferences.
The lecture will be chaired by Professor Peter McCulloch, Professor of Surgical Science and Practice at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences.
