Attended by over 3,500 international experts in transplantation science and medicine, either in Buenos Aires or virtually, their achievements are considerable and reflect the quality of their research.

Hisashi, a DPhil student in the Transplantation Research Immunology Group (TRIG) at NDS, along with his supervisor Professor Issa, were awarded a TTS International Mentee-Mentor Award for their research ‘Mitochondrial complex V inhibition enhances human regulatory T cell suppressive function through the induction of immunosuppressive small extracellular vesicles.’

The 2022 International Transplantation Science Mentee-Mentor Awards celebrate the contributions of basic and translational science to the field of transplantation by recognising the efforts of basic scientists who have advanced our understanding of transplant science/immunobiology and/or treatment of transplant recipients, and the young investigators who will be the future leaders in transplantation.

Marie, who is also a DPhil student within TRIG, was awarded a Young Investigator Award as part of the TTS Scientific Congress Awards for her work ‘Investigating iron limitation in tolerance and regulatory T cells' dynamic iron requirements.’

The Young Investigator Awards are given to recipients who have submitted abstracts to the International Congress of The Transplantation Society and received the highest scores from an international panel of reviewers.

Further details about the conference are available on the TTS 2022 website
