Personal Assistant Gillian Roberts and colleague Georgios Vrakas, a Consultant Transplant Surgeon also based at Oxford Transplant Centre, have successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.

Gillian and Georgios at the top!

They were part of a group of around 40 people making this climb in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation – a charity that is close to the heart of the Oxford Transplant Centre.

Gillian said: ‘It was a hugely difficult challenge, but we had a good supportive group climbing with us – all in aid of the same charity’.

The group hoped to claim a record for the highest ever recorded football match in the crater at the top (sponsored by the organisation You Are The Ref), but unfortunately bad weather at the top of the mountain prevented the match taking place on safety grounds.

Nevertheless they are extremely proud of their achievement of reaching Uhuru Peak and will continue fundraising to achieve their £10,000 target until December 2017.
