Congratulations to Dr Lauren Morgan for being asked to give the prestigious Institute Lecture at the 70th anniversary meeting of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF).

Dr Morgan, who is a lecturer in human factors and patient safety in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences and Director of the Postgraduate Certificate in Patient Safety, gave the annual Institute Lecture on 29 April at the CIEHF Conference in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

The Institute Lecture is awarded to someone who the CIEHF considers has made ‘significant and sustained contributions in one or more fields of ergonomics/human factors’. Dr Morgan's lecture was titled ‘A prescription of human factors for the NHS.'

Dr Morgan has studied many areas of healthcare from surgery to general practice and has got involved in quality improvement and IT projects. Recently she has led presentations to the GMC on human factors and, as a result, she has now been invited to design their programme of work to integrate human factors into their work processes.

'I'm absolutely honoured and delighted to receive the Institute Award and to open the conference with the Institute Lecture,' said Dr Morgan. 'Thank you to all I work with who's stories and work have been such a massive part of my work.'
