Operational Lead, NDS SITU

With over two decades of experience in both pre-clinical and clinical research, I currently serve as the Operational Lead for the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit (SITU) within the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (NDS). In this role, I oversee a diverse portfolio of surgical clinical trials, spanning areas such as  melanoma, brain tumours, chronic rhinosinusitis and upper GI surgery.

As the operational lead, I provide strategic management and guidance to trials throughout their lifecycle. I work closely with Senior Trial Managers, Senior Data Managers, and the senior leadership team to ensure trials are executed to the highest standard. My role includes supporting trial teams in meeting key milestones, liaising with the Development Lead during the initial application and assessment phases of new trials, and then overseeing their setup and implementation once funding has been secured. Additionally, I am an active member of the NDS SITU senior leadership team, where I collaborate with academic directors and the SITU director to advance the unit's strategic objectives.

Before assuming my current role, I was the Clinical Trial Manager for the FUTURE-GB trial, which focused on the functional and ultrasound-guided resection of glioblastoma. I also managed theNINJA trial, a large pediatric plastic surgery trial, and led the feasibility study SPINOUT-F within NDORMS (Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, and Musculoskeletal Sciences).

Earlier in my career, I coordinated the OxAAA study, a major vascular research initiative in NDS, and spent 13 years in behavioral neuroscience research across various departments at the University of Oxford. During this time, I developed expertise in lab-based research, large dataset analysis, and regulatory compliance. I hold an MSc (Res) from the University of Oxford, where I researched the role of excitatory amino acid receptor subtypes in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory.

My diverse background in research and trial management has equipped me with extensive translational and operational skills, which I leverage to ensure the success of clinical trials and contribute to the strategic growth of NDS SITU.
