Biography

Mr Sarvananthan Sajiram, PhD FRCS (CTh), is a Locum Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals. He specialises in aortic surgery. He successfully completed his national cardiothoracic surgical training through the Wessex Deanery, rotating between Southampton General Hospital and the John Radcliffe Hospital. Prior to this, he completed medical school at Imperial College London, where he also undertook a PhD in cardiovascular sciences, focusing on translational research.
Before taking on his consultant role in Oxford, he was a senior clinical and aortic fellow at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, one of the UK’s highest-volume aortic centres. He is passionate about surgical training and regularly teaches undergraduate and postgraduate learners and has a strong interest clinical research. Mr. Sajiram is author of over 25 peer-reviewed publications and has presented nationally and internationally. He continues to work at the intersection of high-acuity surgery, education, and service improvement.
The Chief Medical Officer has confirmed that attendance at the Surgical Grand Rounds can count toward internal CPD, with 1 point awarded per hour. Please note that in-person attendance is required, and you will need to sign the attendance register.
