Dr Dimitrios Doultsinos, a Research Fellow in the Oxford Prostate Cancer Biology Group, and Dr Danielle Fairbrass, NDS Bioresource Programme Manager, spoke to two groups of students: Years 4–6 (ages 8–11) and Years 7–9 (ages 11–13).
The visit was particularly meaningful as the CRIS Cancer Foundation - one of Dr Doultsinos’s funders - is the school’s chosen charity for the year.
Through interactive presentations, the scientists introduced students to key concepts such as what cancer is and how biobanks support medical research. They also highlighted the NDS Work Experience Programme, which offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on insight into research each summer.
