Biography

Associate Professor David A. ClarkAssociate Professor David A. Clark is a senior visiting colorectal surgeon at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He qualified from the University of Queensland in 1991, trained in surgery in Brisbane, and undertook colorectal fellowships in the United Kingdom. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons at Edinburgh in January 2002. 

He is an Associate Professor in Surgery at the University of Queensland and operates a busy clinical practice based at the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. He has a strong interest in inflammatory bowel disease and minimally invasive colorectal surgery. A/Prof Clark has presented internationally and published in both these fields.

A/Prof Clark established the Brisbane Colorectal Research Unit (CRU) in 2016 and personally overseas more than 50 projects and supervises HDR candidates. He has a history of collaborative research and has been awarded a PhD through the University of Sydney in 2022. He is a board member of the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colorectal Surgery (ANZTBCRS). He is a recent convenor for the Colorectal Surgical Society and RACS Section scientific meetings.
