Basics for Medical Education Course (BMEC)
This is a one-day course that provides information on how to deliver teaching for medical students in a variety of settings. The course is aimed at Foundation trainees, Core Surgery Trainees, Trust Doctors and Specialist Registrars new to the Postgraduate School of Surgery who are keen to be involved in delivering the Year 4 and 6 Surgery courses.
The programme covers a range of teaching aspects including:
- Small group teaching
- Bedside teaching
- Lectures and short presentations
- Teaching in Clinic, Theatre, Ward Rounds and On Call
- Remote teaching
- Assessments and feedback.
Upon completion of the course, you are provided with a certificate for your portfolio. We also highly recommend, putting your newly learned skills to practice, by assisting us as Surgical Tutors, Practical Skills facilitators and Case Study markers for our undergraduate students.
