In June 2023, a successful collaborative event between Oxford University Global Surgery Group (OUGSG) and GASOC (the Global Anaesthesia, Surgery and Obstetric Collaboration, a UK and Ireland-based trainee organisation with a wide international membership), was held at Osler House in Oxford.

Speakers at the event

The event attracted in-person attendees from a range of specialties (anaesthetics, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology) and grades (medical students, trainees, and consultants); whilst virtual attendees represented 18 different nations.

The four speakers (again from a range of specialties and grades) delivered inspiring and thought-provoking talks on their clinical and academic work in global surgery/anaesthetics/obstetrics, culminating in an engaging panel discussion, and finally concluding in opportunity for networking.

OUGSG and GASOC look forward to developing further collaborative endeavours together, in particular, the dovetailing of the OUGSG Global Surgery Course (18-22 September 2023) with the GASOC Annual Conference (23-24 September 2023) in Oxford.
