Gurdeep S. Mannu is a Cancer Research UK Clinician Scientist and Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Cancer Surgery at the University of Oxford. He is also a Honorary Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He completed specialist training in the Oxford Deanery in general surgery and a DPhil in Epidemiology at the University of Oxford, following earlier medical and academic training in London and the East of England. He leads the Surgical Epidemiology Group and his work bridges clinical breast surgery and population-level cancer research.
His research focuses on cancer epidemiology, particularly breast cancer outcomes, ductal carcinoma in situ, treatment effects, and long-term risks of invasive breast cancer and breast cancer mortality. His work has won various awards and he has contributed to major population-based studies and meta-analyses published in leading journals with a particular emphasis on generating evidence that can inform breast cancer treatment, surveillance, and patient counselling.
