The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 23 June at Rewley House in Wellington Square, Oxford.
The Partner of the Year award recognises individuals, departments and external collaborators whose service, commitment and support have not only enabled Oxford Lifelong Learning's work but have also made a significant contribution to its wider success.
Commenting on the award, Tom said: 'It’s possible the last award I received was my school 50 metres swimming badge, so it was a delightful surprise to be named Partner of the Year. I am told that feedback from students on our taught courses informed the judging panel’s choice, and that makes receiving the award especially meaningful.
'Running the courses is only possible because of the support of many colleagues in the department and at Oxford Lifelong Learning. Thank you to all those who work with us to run the courses. We also rely on the teaching and supervision contributions of a fantastic faculty team, and on the extraordinary dedication and talent of Dione Brandt, our Course Co-ordinator, and Olivia Lounsbury, our Associate Course Director.
'Finally, it is a privilege to teach, support and learn alongside our brilliant students – an exceptional group of surgeons and other healthcare professionals who will go on to make healthcare better wherever they work.'
In addition to Tom's individual award, the MSc in Surgical Science and Practice and the PGCert in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement programmes team was shortlisted in the Team of the Year category. This award celebrates teams that demonstrate outstanding collaboration, shared commitment and collective achievement, making a lasting impact through their work. The nominated team comprised Tom Revington, Olivia Lounsbury and Dione Brandt.
Following nominations from students and staff, an independent judging panel selected the shortlisted nominees and winners, taking into account both the number of nominations received and the strength of the supporting statements.
Launched in 2023, the OLLIE Awards recognise the outstanding work, dedication and commitment of colleagues who champion the Oxford Lifelong Learning's mission, vision and values.
