The GOLF Trial is part of the NIHR Associate Principal Investigator (PI) Scheme. This is a six month in-work training opportunity, providing practical experience for healthcare professionals who do not currently take part in clinical research in their day to day role. Associate PIs are supported by the local PI and gain experience by completing a checklist of study activities. APIs receive recognition from the NIHR.
National Hiatal Surgery Registry
The GOLF study will be embedded within the National Hiatal Surgery Registry, which will permit longer than two years of follow-up with a planned report at five and 10 years after surgery. This will allow the GOLF trial to also formally assess the long-term outcome and safety of the LINX procedure compared with fundoplication.
