Andile is a Rhodes Scholar and he completed his primary medical degree (MBBS) at the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe with clinical placements at Mpilo Hospital and the United Bulawayo Hospitals. His interests are in surgery and healthcare management for improved impact in underserved communities.
In his clinical placements in Zimbabwe, Andile was deeply engaged in global surgery where he was involved in developing strategies that make surgery more accessible, safer and affordable in Low to Middle Income countries. Andile aspires to use his clinical and academia experiences in surgery to realise improved healthcare care systems.
Andile is a competitive tennis player and an avid debater in his spare time having competed at national level for both. He is the founder of a junior medical officer and medical student led initiative called the Zimbabwe Student Surgical Network. The group pioneers global surgery research, advocacy and education through partnerships in its global surgery network.
His current research studies at Oxford explore patient safety for emergency surgery patients using human factors science.
