DPhil start date

October, 2025

Project title

'Dissecting common immunopathological pathways in IBD and intestinal transplantation via advanced spatial omics.'

Supervisors

Dr Joanna Hester

Charlotte Yates

MBChB (Hons), BSc (Hons), MRCS PGCert

DPhil Student, Academic Clinical Fellow in Transplant Surgery

I am a General Surgical Trainee in the Oxford deanery. I have taken time out of training to pursue a DPhil while working as a as a fellow in Transplant Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals.

My research explores how the immune pathways driving inflammatory bowel disease flares overlap with those in intestinal transplant rejection. Using spatial omics tools such as GeoMx and Xenium, I’m mapping the immune microenvironment to uncover shared therapeutic targets. I work with Dr. Hester and Prof. Issa in the Transplant Research Immunology Group (TRIG) and collaborate with Dr. Friedrich on the IBD side, alongside my clinical work at the Oxford Transplant Centre.
