Dennis Mazingi

Post-doctoral Clinical Research Fellow

Dennis Mazingi is a medical doctor and general surgeon from Zimbabwe. He attained his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Malawi, College of Medicine and his MMed in General Surgery at the University of Zimbabwe, College of Health Sciences. He holds a first-class degree in International Health and Tropical Medicine (IHTM) and a DPhil in Surgical Sciences from Oxford University.

Dennis has received various awards including the Abraham Harid Research prize, the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe Research Prize, the David Lloyd Global Prize, the Beit Trust Scholarship. Before joining the University of Oxford, he worked as a medical doctor and general surgeon in Harare. He has also worked in various research collaboratives in the field of global surgery, paediatric and general surgery and injury prevention. 

Research summary

He is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow within the Nuffield Department of Surgery, under Professor Kokila Lakhoo. His research focuses on strengthening trauma and injury prevention systems in low- and middle-income countries, including the design and evaluation of interventions to reduce childhood injuries in Zimbabwe and beyond.
