Prashant is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Urology at the University of Oxford and a member of the Oxford Stone Group. He graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2021 with an MBChB and a Master of Research in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine, during which he was awarded competitive funding from North West Cancer Research to support his academic development.
He completed his Foundation Programme in the West Midlands Deanery before working as a Senior House Officer in Urology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he confirmed his commitment to a career in urology. In 2024, he began his Academic Clinical Fellowship and specialist surgical training in Urology within the Thames Valley Deanery.
Prashant’s early academic work focused on urinary biomarker discovery and metabolomics, leading to multiple publications and presentations at international conferences. More recently, his research interests have expanded to include epidemiology and the application of innovative technologies. His current work explores the genetic variations underpinning kidney stone disease.
He is also passionate about medical education. He undertook formal teaching training in the West Midlands and remains an active member of the simulation faculty at University Hospitals Birmingham. He continues to deliver teaching alongside his clinical and academic responsibilities.
Outside of medicine, Prashant enjoys racquet sports and football.
