OrganOx was named the winner of the Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship Award for its pioneering work in life‑saving organ preservation technology - an innovation that has already saved more than 8,000 lives and culminated in a landmark $1.5bn commercial exit. Congratulations to the co-founders Professor Peter Friend and Professor Constantin Coussios.
The Oxford University Global Surgery Group (OUGSG) received a highly commended distinction in the Making a Difference Globally Award category for its initiative Equity in Global Cancer Care for Children. This collaborative programme is dedicated to ensuring that children with cancer receive equal, high‑quality care, no matter where in the world they live. Congratulations to the project team: Mr Noel Peter, Dr Soham Bandyopadhyay and Professor Kokila Lakhoo from OUGSG, together with external collaborators Dr Simone Abib (Global Initiative for Children's surgery) and Dr Hafeez Abdelhafeez (University of Rochester Medical Center).

The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the University - recognising academics, researchers, and professional, technical and support staff working in departments, divisions, colleges, libraries, museums and central services.
This year’s awards attracted 170 entries across 13 categories, with more than 1,000 individuals included in the nominations.
The awards were presented by Professor Irene Tracey, CBE FRS FMedSci, at a ceremony held at the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities on Thursday 4 June.
