Fadi Issa, Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and co-lead of the Transplantation Research Immunology Group at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (NDS), was nominated in the Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award category for his tireless efforts to promote the principles of EDI within the University. One such project includes the University video series project, Off the Beaten Track, which aims to highlight the journeys of our students and staff from under-represented demographics to show its viewers how they, too, can access an education/career in the University.

Commenting on his nomination, Professor Issa said: 'I am truly honoured to have been nominated for this VC award; it stands as a testament to the collective efforts and remarkable achievements within the NDS and by the entire EDI team, notably the exceptional contributions from Emily Hotine and Jo Snoeck.'

The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards recognise the achievements and celebrate the success of staff across the University. There were 250 award entries across the 11 categories this year, with 1,500 individuals included in the nominations. Please join us in congratulating Professor Issa.

The winners and highly commended nominees will be announced at a ceremony at the Sheldonian Theatre in May. All staff will be invited to a Vice-Chancellor's Awards showcase, taking place in May, to celebrate the success of our colleagues. Registration for the showcase will open in April.
