Professor Fadi Issa

Professor Issa is a well-established independent senior investigator in NDS, where he has been successfully leading the Translational Research Immunology Group. He became full professor of Transplant Immunology in the University’s last Recognition of Distinction exercise.

As Professor of Transplantation, he will create, support and implement innovative concepts and strategies in the field of transplantation whilst supporting existing strong experimental and clinical transplant-related projects in Oxford.

Speaking of his appointment, Professor Issa said: ‘I look forward to advancing the remarkable heritage of transplantation research here at Oxford by building on our cutting-edge science and collaborative spirit. Together with colleagues across the department and beyond, we will strive to lead on novel approaches that enhance every element of the patient journey.

Professor Freddie Hamdy, Head of Department, said: ‘Fadi has had so far, a stellar career and we are very proud that he is being appointed to follow the footsteps of Peter Friend. He will lead the transplantation academic programme at Oxford to new heights and will also integrate his skills as a plastic surgeon to the transplant surgical team.’
