The exceptional achievements of staff at the Surgical Intervention Trials Unit in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (SITU NDS) have been celebrated at the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) CTU Awards.

These awards recognise contributions to the work of OCTRU over the last year. 

The ‘Trial of the Year’ award went to the SARONG Trial. Congratulations to the trial team - Professor Sheraz Markar, Dr Alice Guazzelli, Laura Lloyd JonesRoxanne Williams and Amy Taylor. SARONG is a Randomised Controlled Trial of intensive surveillance vs. standard postoperative follow-up in patients who had surgery for oesophageal and gastric cancer. 

Dr Alice Guazzelli was also presented with the 'Trial Manager of the Year' award for her outstanding contributions to two clinical trials, SARONG and ART (Arterial Revascularisation Trial).

Congratulations also to Laura Lloyd Jones who won the 'Special Recognition for Trial(s) Contribution' award, and to Monika Tlalka (PROMOTE Stage 2) and Charles Malyon (EndoNETSENTINEL and Restore-B) for being commended in this category.
